Blasting Bins in the Deep South
The idea for Bin Blast emerged early in 2024 when founder Blair wanted a sparkling clean bin, but his water blaster was broken. There were no local companies providing bin cleaning services. Sensing a business opportunity, Blair began investigating manufacturers of bin cleaning systems internationally.
Blair approached BCS to get a feel for price, availability and capability. Impressed with the scalability of the Bin Wash Truck and professionalism of the BCS team, Blair placed an order for a Bin Wash Truck mid 2024 with plans to launch a truck in the Dunedin market in time for summer.
"We realised we had a great opportunity to launch and position a bin cleaning company in our local market. Timing was important - we needed a truck ready for the hot summer months, where Dunedin's green bins were going to be cooking up all sorts of smells. BCS had a tight timeframe but made it happen" - Blair, Bin Blast owner.
The Bin Wash Truck enables Bin Blast to market to residential and commercial customers in Dunedin and surrounding suburbs with a truck capable of cleaning hundreds of bins per day. Blair says the maneuverability of the Bin Wash Truck is one of many great features.
"In addition to the fantastic cleaning power, the Blast rig is the ideal size; it enables us to tackle Dunedin's steep and tight streets, while being big enough to carry tonnes of clean and waste water. A huge bonus is the truck is under 6 tonne, enabling class 1 drivers to operate the truck, opening up our labour opportunities when it's time to employ a driver".
Launched in November 2024, Bin Blast is now Dunedin's leading wheelie bin cleaning company, with over 400 residential and commercial subscribers and cleaning over 1000 bins per month.
